LOCO DI CASTIADAS
The “Pro-Loco” tourist association of Castiadas came
about in 1990. Through its activity, it aims to promote and improve
tourism in the area , emphasising local resources and giving priority
to initiatives and organised events, which help to support and
advertise the region’s natural beauty. Similarly, it seeks
to discover traditions, passion for innovation and exploitation
of its environmental heritage, today still uncontaminated.
The presence of the pro loco is evident above all during feasts
and festivals in the area, summer shows, as well as taking part
in the famous Exhibition/Market of Crafts and Farm Produce, which
is held every year in the Centrale district, at the former prison
of Castiadas.
At this event one can admire costumes of the area, hear songs
and motets, enjoy dancing and, best of all, taste, for several
days, traditional products like “Culirgionis” (ravioli),
“malloreddus” (gnochetti) or Sardinian “fregula”
(fregola), spaghetti with botargo and roast goat or sheep.
