| How
to find us
The territory of Castiadas is situated 50km away from the port
of Cagliari and about 55km from the airport at Elmas. A new 125
main road is currently under construction, which will link Cagliari
and Arbatax much more quickly than at present and, since it will
pass through the entire region, journey times to Castiadas will
be reduced considerably.
Also planned is a new airport for the Sarrabus located in the
Maloccu district of Castiadas, about 10km from Villasimius, allowing
tourists to reach the area in no time at all.
Until these projects are completed the current road from Cagliari
to Castiadas will remain fairly busy, though always incredibly
panoramic.
Having left Sardinia’s capital en route to Castiadas,
there is first a flat stretch of road belonging to the borough
of Quartu Sant’Elena, the island’s third biggest town.
Once this has been successfully negotiated, the twists, turns
and breathtaking views of the second part of the journey begin.
Before arriving in Castiadas, one must pass through the seaside
communities of Cala Regina, Geremeas, Torre delle Stelle, Solanas
and Villasimius. Headlands rich in typical Mediterranean vegetation,
coves of emerald sea and stretches of turquoise punctuate the
journey at frequent intervals.
Eventually, after a number of rather challenging bends, the territory
of Castiadas suddenly springs out, ornamented with bright colours,
the fresh fragrance of myrtle and juniper, lentiscus and century-old
forests.
From the opposite direction, i.e. from Arbatax or the port of
Tortoli, the main 125 road can already be taken, passing through
the villages of Barisardo, Tertenia, Villaputzu, Muravera and
finally the hamlet of San Priamo before finally reaching Castiadas.
