The tourist industry in Sardinia began to develop in the 50s when
the first
facilities were built in a few seaside areas, but the real boom
actually occurred 10 years later, changing the mentality of many
Sards, who had always been linked to the land more than the sea.
The structures present on the island are all quite modern, but
respectful of the surrounding environment. Castiadas represents
one of the areas with greatest potential for tourism and is able
today to offer both land and sea enthusiasts a relaxing holiday
with new, avant-guarde facilities.
The amenities allow all kinds of needs to be catered for, satisfying
even for the most demanding tourist, with high-level hotel facilities,
campsites, country guest houses and holiday homes.
In the Castiadas area, the guest house industry is well founded,
giving tourists the possibility to taste real Sardinian cooking,
as well as receive the simple hospitality offered.
Currently the area is served by two high-quality campsites situated
close to Cala Sinzias beach, allowing tourists to choose a more
laid-back and enjoyable holiday.
Whoever prefers not to stay in a hotel can choose the self-catering
option. There are big or small appartments, often with kitchen,
bedroom, living room, bathroom, veranda and gardens, which are
rented out during the summer period, sometimes offering entertainment.
It is possible to reach all the beaches in the area along the
coast from Cala Pira to Santa Giusta. Castiadas council has introduced
new measures for beaches and, therefore, on all stretches of shoreline,
there are refreshment facilities with toilets, deckchair hire,
umbrellas and sun loungers.
